As part of its efforts to raise community awareness and protect the lives of citizens, Amwaj Association for Community Development conducted a series of educational sessions titled “Unexploded Ordnance: A Real Danger”, in coordination with the Red Cross. The sessions were attended by a number of men and women from various segments of the community, where comprehensive information was provided about the dangers of unexploded explosives, and how to identify, avoid, and report them safely. The primary goal of these sessions was to protect the lives of children and families from potential accidents caused by unexploded ordnance, which remains a constant threat in conflict-affected areas. The sessions included: Introduction to unexploded ordnance and its different forms. Preventive guidelines to avoid exposure while playing or in public spaces. Safe reporting procedures to notify the relevant authorities upon finding any suspicious object. Explanation of potential risks to health and life if these objects are handled incorrectly. The sessions emphasized that community awareness and vigilance are the first line of defense in safeguarding the lives of children and families, highlighting the importance of spreading this culture across all areas of the camp and the local community.
