A glimpse into the cultural, artistic, and

Her softball team was honored - girls' category

In a distinguished and proud celebration, Amwaj Association for Community Development honored its softball team, which won the Jawwal Softball League title – Girls’ category, in recognition of their outstanding athletic achievements and efforts in representing the association and the community. The ceremony included Mr. Waleed Shuqoura, Chairman of the Board of Amwaj Association, who also honored Mr. Mahmoud Tafesh, President of the Palestinian Baseball and Softball Federation, in appreciation of his role in developing the sport and supporting national talent in this field. The event was attended by Dr. Mamoun Sweidan, representing President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine, adding an official and national significance to the occasion, reflecting the leadership’s appreciation for efforts to promote sports and Palestinian youth. The celebration included several cultural and entertainment segments, including: Traditional Palestinian Dabke, bringing joy and vitality to the event. Poetry performances highlighting national heritage and inspiring stories of Palestinian youth. Award and prize distribution to attendees, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the sports teams and community support. This celebration served as an occasion to strengthen national belonging, encourage youth and girls to participate in sports and cultural activities, and highlight the role of Amwaj Association in promoting sports, academic excellence, and cultural development within the Palestinian community.

As part of its efforts to empower persons with disabilities and promote a spirit of determination and resilience, Amwaj Association for Community Development visited Mr. Ibrahim Hamdouna, a person with a disability, with the aim of developing an empowerment project for persons with disabilities. This visit is part of the association’s plan to enhance the personal and social capacities of people with disabilities and to highlight their inspiring experiences as role models in the community. Mr. Ibrahim was chosen as an example due to his strong will and determination, demonstrating through his daily life that disability is not an obstacle to achievement, creativity, and meaningful contribution to society. During the meeting, the team learned about Mr. Ibrahim’s personal and professional experiences and heard his success stories and strategies for overcoming daily challenges. This provides a rich knowledge base for designing programs and initiatives aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and developing their skills. The meeting also reflected mutual respect and collaboration between the association members and Mr. Ibrahim, emphasizing the importance of supporting people of determination and encouraging their active participation in community life. The solidarity stand with the private entities for people

In line with its commitment to inclusion and equality and raising awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities, Amwaj Association for Community Development participated on Sunday, December 2, 2018, in a solidarity stand with local institutions supporting persons with disabilities. This participation was coordinated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasizing the importance of supporting persons with disabilities and advocating for their equal rights and opportunities in society. The association was represented at the event by Ms. Mai Al-Faram, Vice Chairperson of the Board, who affirmed Amwaj Association’s steadfast position in supporting persons with disabilities and promoting their integration in all community, educational, and cultural activities. The stand conveyed several key messages, including: The importance of inclusion and equality in all aspects of life, particularly regarding access to health, education, and social services. Supporting local institutions that work to empower persons with disabilities and enhance their rights. Raising community awareness to change stereotypes about persons with disabilities and encourage their active participation in society. Mr. Saleh Suhyon, Director of the Multi-Services Employment Office, visited the headquarters of Amwaj Association for Community Development to observe the progress of work at the association and attend the training course organized for graduates. The visit aimed to review the training and qualification programs offered by the association to youth and graduates, and to strengthen cooperation between the association and the Employment Office to ensure the training meets the needs of the labor market and enhances participants’ skills. During the visit, Mr. Suhyon toured the various training departments, reviewed the course content, and observed both the practical and theoretical activities provided to the participants, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in empowering graduates and equipping them with practical experience to enter the workforce confidently and efficiently. He also expressed his appreciation for the association’s efforts in developing youth capacities and supporting graduates, noting that such visits strengthen ongoing cooperation and provide opportunities for exchanging experiences and improving programs to better serve youth and the community. The visit concluded with discussions on ways to enhance future partnership between the association and the Employment Office, ensuring the continuity of training programs and expanding their reach to benefit as many graduates and young people as possible.

As part of its efforts to enhance children’s skills and foster their creative and social development, Amwaj Association for Community Development organized a series of activities within the summer camp for children at Al-Salam Camp, under the title “A Smile for a Better Generation 2” and the distinctive slogan “Moons, .” The camp aimed to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children, away from the daily pressures of life, with a focus on developing educational, artistic, and cultural aspects. The camp included several activity corners, most notably: Arts and Painting Corner: Children had the opportunity to express themselves through drawing and coloring, helping to enhance their creative skills. Educational Games Corner: Included interactive and educational games aimed at promoting critical thinking, teamwork, and healthy competition. Storytelling and Cultural Corner: Children listened to educational and cultural stories to instill values of empathy, respect, and cooperation. Sports and Physical Activity Corner: Organized sports competitions and movement activities to improve physical fitness and encourage teamwork. Life Skills Workshop Corner: Included simple educational activities such as crafts, preparing light snacks, and developing social communication skills. The camp achieved great success in engaging children in various activities, increasing their self-awareness, and developing their skills in a comprehensive manner. This reinforces the association’s message that every child is a “moon, not just a number”, deserving attention and care in a supportive and safe environment.

A visit to Al-Wafa Hospital for the Elderly

The Amwaj Association for Community Development and Improvement organized a humanitarian visit to Al-Wafa Hospital for the Elderly as part of its ongoing efforts to promote social solidarity and strengthen the values of compassion and care for senior citizens, who are an important and respected part of our community. This visit aimed to bring joy and happiness to the hearts of the elderly and to highlight the importance of supporting and caring for them. During the visit, a number of the association’s members distributed gifts to the elderly in a warm and friendly atmosphere filled with kindness and appreciation. The members also spent quality time with them, talking, listening to their stories, and learning about their life experiences, which added a heartfelt and meaningful touch to the visit. The members exchanged friendly conversations with the elderly in order to get closer to them and listen to their concerns and needs, reflecting the association’s strong commitment to humanitarian and social values. The elderly residents expressed their great happiness with this visit. Smiles were seen on their faces as they showed gratitude and affection toward the association’s members. They emphasized that such initiatives have a positive impact on their lives and make them feel valued and remembered by the community. For his part, the Director of Al-Wafa Hospital for the Elderly, Dr. Basman Al-Ashi, expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the management and members of the Amwaj Association for this kind initiative, praising the important role the association plays in supporting different groups within society, especially senior citizens. These projects include specialized programs in several key areas: Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding: Training youth to identify the causes of conflict and manage them in constructive and peaceful ways. Conducting practical workshops to enhance skills in negotiation and positive dialogue among different parties. Community Dialogue: Organizing dialogue sessions that bring youth together with various community groups to discuss local and national issues. Teaching youth the art of listening and effective communication to foster mutual understanding and peaceful problem-solving. Nonviolent Conflict Resolution: Equipping participants with strategies to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence. Providing practical exercises simulating real-life situations to apply these skills effectively. Empowering Participants to Share Knowledge: Encouraging youth to become role models in their communities by transferring acquired skills to their peers.
